From Coastal Carolina athletic website:
Following its most impressive win of the year the Coastal Carolina men?s basketball team fell at the College of Charleston in a game in which the Chants never held the lead and leading-scorer Anthony Raffa was held scoreless over the 40 minute span. It was the first game in Raffa?s Coastal Carolina career that he has been held scoreless when playing more than five minutes in a contest.
Raffa?s only other scoreless game in a Coastal uniform came during the 2010-11 season at the College of Charleston when he had zero points in two minutes of action.
Junior El Hadji Ndieguene had a breakout game in which he scored 14 points off of 7-12 shooting. He nailed a number of 18-foot jumpers and kept the Chants in the game throughout the first half. Senior Kierre Greenwood had a team-high 17 points including going a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. Freshman Michel Enanga led the team on the glass with six rebounds off the bench while adding six points.
The Cougars were led by Anthony Stitt who had 22 points and was the lone CofC player to have double-figures.
For just the second time this season the Chanticleers were outrebounded by their opponent 37-28.
Both teams traded baskets over the opening two minutes but a three-point play by Anthony Thomas of CofC gave the Cougars a 7-4 lead with 17:10 to play in the first which they would not relinquish the rest of the game. The Cougars led by as much as 12 points in the first half but a 5-0 run by the Chants over the final 1:37 cut the advantage to just seven at the break, 26-19.
The Cougars opened the second half with a 3-pointer and never looked back as they built their lead to as much as 22 points in the period. ?A 7-0 run by the Chants over the final 58 seconds of the game cut the lead to nine giving CofC a 60-51 victory.
Coastal returns to action Sunday, Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. at home against Greensboro College in their final game of 2012.
