They could be the same, or they could be quite different. Often the two terms are used interchangeably. Management-speak does not include words like ?disaster?. ;-) They like to refer to a fire in the computer room as a ?challenge to the processing of thermal? or something like that. Calling a DRP a PCA that managers feel they are different mieux.Si, and a PCA usually indicates that when a disaster occurs at the main location there is a plan to get the business back and running in less than a skeleton as a secondary location ASAP. However, a DRP is a plan to rebuild the primary site from backups of data, and this would imply a long downtime.
